Order Selector - Night Shift

Description:Selectors will be held accountable for selecting customer’s orders from frozen, dry and cooler warehouse areas utilizing a triple pallet jack in a safe, efficient and productive manner while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

Duties:*Receives order assignment from database (SYSCO Order Selection computer system)

*Accurately and efficiently selects orders and stacks merchandise on pallets using identified procedures; places case labels upright in appropriate place on cases.

*Place individual case labels upright on every case selected so they may be easily read.

*Parks pallets on dock by location and attaches pallet identification labels.

*Exchanges mispulls for the correct item and corrects errors by returning incorrect products to the correct slot.

*Maintain an acceptable level of production and accuracy. Accuracy in the selection process is vital. Maintains a “no tolerance” attitude for errors.

*May be called upon to select or assist in all areas of the warehouse (including the freezer, cooler, dry, yard and to assist with cleanup).

*Handles product properly to prevent damage.

*Properly maintain equipment that is assigned.

*Operates industrial equipment in a safe manner and brings to supervisor’s attention any unsafe conditions.

*Maintains a neat appearance and manner at all times while on the job.

*Participate in various meetings/groups (shift, departmental, company and safety).

*Works until the job is completed while maintaining acceptable production levels.

*Responsible for the upkeep, sanitation and safety of assigned aisles and overall warehouse.

*Follows Preferred Work Methods and observe all safety rules and regulations in an effort to prevent accidents or injuries.

*Perform other functions in the warehouse as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications:The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities that an individual must possess to perform the essential functions of this job: Must have the ability to work in a fast paced “team effort” environment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or G.E.D preferred. One year previous warehouse experience in heavy labor is required preferably in foodservice. Experience operating warehouse equipment preferred (forklift, pallet jack, etc.).

LANGUAGE SKILLS
This position requires the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules
operating/maintenance instructions and procedural manuals. Must have the ability to understand aisle, rack and slot markings. Ability to understand and interpret printed information on labels/handheld device. Proficiency in reading labels, product names and numbers. Effective communication skills are necessary.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
An individual must have the ability to count, read numbers, add, subtract, multiply and divide.

REASONING ABILITY
Must have the ability to compare data on wearable screen with data on cases. Ability to apply common sense understanding to exercise judgment on product, equipment and safety issues.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is constantly required to:

•Work during the night shift;

•Stand for extended periods of time, bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, squat, turn body and walk

•Lifting and moving cases (selecting product and placing on a pallet) ranging in weight from 10 lbs to 75 lbs continuously and 75 to 90 lbs occasionally to and from heights ranging from floor to knee, waist, shoulder and overhead.

•Use hands and fingers to peel and stick labels on cases.

•Handle and feel objects and/or equipment controls; reach with hands and arms.

•Specific vision abilities required to perform this job include close and distance vision, depth perception, color vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus.

•Must exhibit a high level of endurance, energy, and strength to successfully perform position.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an associate encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, an associate regularly works near moving mechanical apparatus and is regularly exposed to vibration and moderate to high noise levels. The work environment includes congested and high traffic areas, working alongside forklifts, single, double and triple pallet jacks. Walking and working is done on concrete flooring. Work is completed in a warehouse environment and will require work to be done in varying climate - temperatures range from 25 degrees below “0” to 95 degrees or above for up to 10 hours (as assigned by management). The shift end time fluctuates with the business. The associate occasionally works in high, precarious places and in outdoor weather conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the associate will be exposed fumes, chemicals, slippery floors and high noise levels.
